78th D-Day Anniversary

78th d-day

The 78th D-Day Anniversary in Normandy, France is looking to be a spectacular event for commemorating and honoring WWII Veterans. I have been told that more WWII Veterans may be attending the festivities this year than those that made the trip for the 75th.

The cancellation of all D-Day events for the past two years due to COVID-19 may be a big factor in the increased attendance. Likewise, this may very well be the last time these WWII Veterans travel due to their advanced age (98-100).

One thing that is certain, all the returning WWII Veterans are treasured jewels. I certainly look forward to meeting more of these heroes. If I am lucky, I will have the opportunity to preserve their memories with a quick oral history interview. For that purpose, I am setting up a dedicated interview studio in the middle of St. Mere Eglise, the hub for all the festivities.

Below is an updated list of all of the 78th D-Day events for the week of June 6th:

If you plan on being in Normandy and want to meet, go ahead and send me an email and we can make it happen.
