Non-Profit 501 (c)(3) Status Obtained

Non-Profit SuccessOfficially a Non-Profit Public Charity

The Making History Project achieved an important milestone last month as it was officially designated as a non-profit organization by the Internal Revenue Service. Donors to the Making History Project can now deduct their contributions under IRC Section 170. Likewise, the Making History Project is qualified to receive tax-deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under Section 2055, 2106, or 2522.

Initial Board of Directors Nominated

At the same time, we have established our first Board of Directors for the Making History Project. The Board is composed of a diverse group of passionate people dedicated to the cause of preserving history. Included on the Board is a distinguished and highly decorated World War II paratrooper from the 82nd Airborne who jumped into Normandy on D-Day. Also participating on the Board is a Dean and history professor from a college, a well-respected lawyer and named partner in a law firm, and a retired Special Forces Veteran who is a dedicated advocate for disabled Veterans through the DAV. Our first Board meeting will be this month to pass our By-Laws, elect Officers, and establish priorities and projects for fundraising. The website will be updated shortly to incorporate the names, positions, and short bios for each Director. Likewise, I will post the official notice for non-profit status as well as the By-laws once they are enacted.

Social Media, Podcast, and Newsletter Projects

The Making History Project is engaging a social media and digital consultant to build an engaging and robust social media network using our existing Facebook and Twitter pages. It is difficult to accomplish all of your goals alone, but much more can be done with a community and tribe of followers. Our consultant will also start a new podcast channel for the Making History Project whereby we can channel the audio portion of our interviews to a bigger audience. The podcast audio files will link back to the video interviews for those that are interested in watching the video. Finally, a newsletter and membership list is in the works so we can regularly offer a lot of cool updates, information, and articles that any history fan will appreciate.

We all live, few preserve, and even less make. Let’s make some history for the future!
