Our Veteran oral history interviews seek to cover Veterans from all eras, including World War II, Korea, Cold War, Viet Nam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and the present. No story is too small or unimportant. Our mission is to leave no Veteran behind.

Lackey Antone - WWII VeteranWWII Veteran, Antone Lackey, was interviewed on August 8, 2021, in Norman, Oklahoma. PFC Lackey served with the 1st Cavalry, 8th Regiment in the U.S. Army during World War II. PFC Lackey was initially with the horse cavalry until moving to the Military Police. PFC Lackey served in Japan and the Philippines. PFC Lackey crossed paths with General Eisenhower and General MacArthur as an MP and as part of their security team.
Lowery Herman - WWII VeteranWWII Veteran, Herman Lowery, was interviewed on August 5, 2021, in Clinton, Oklahoma. T/5 (Technician Fifth Grade) Lowery served as an ambulance driver with the 417th Ambulance Company of the U.S. Army during World War II. Herman served in France, Luxembourg, Belgium (Battle of the Bulge), and Germany. Herman describes his arrival at Utah Beach and his role as a medic on the front lines while taking enemy fire, meeting Russians, and saving prisoners.
Lubbers Melvin - Korean War VeteranKorea War Veteran, Melvin Lubbers, was interviewed on July 16, 2021, in Mitchell, South Dakota. SGT Lubbers with the 3rd Division, 7th Regiment, in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. SGT Lubbers describes his involvement in combat at Whitehorse Mountain as well as fighting against the Chinese. SGT Lubbers received the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantry Badge during the Korean War.
Manderscheid Chester - Korean War VeteranKorean War Veteran, Chester Manderscheid, was interviewed on August 5, 2021, in Clinton, Oklahoma. Specialist Manderscheid served in the 96th Field Artillery Battalion, Company B, with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Specialist Manderscheid was the Number 4 (loader) on a 155mm artillery howitzer in the Indian River, Chosin Valley. Specialist Manderscheid was wounded in action after being shot in the chest and was put in charge of 14 supply trucks after returning to action.
Manuelito Laris - Iraq War VeteranIraq War Veteran, Laris Manuelito, was interviewed on July 30, 2021 in Window Rock, Arizona. SPC Manuelito served as a paratrooper in the 515th Sustainment Battalion during Operation Iraqi Freedom. SPC Manuelito is a Native American from the Navajo Nation.
Marshall Seymour - WWII VeteranWWII Veteran, Seymour Marshall, was interviewed on November 12, 2022, in Pensacola, Florida. Lt. Cmdr Marshall was a pilot with the U.S. Navy in the Philippines during World War II. Lt. Cmdr Marshall served aboard the USS Antietam CV-36, flew the Gruman TBF Avenger torpedo bomber in WWII, and the AD-4 Skyraider in the Korean War. Lt. Cmdr Marshall was shot down over North Korea and received the Distinguished Flying Cross for his military service.
